[Tauriel doesn't sleep, but she does go into the restive, trance-like state that her kind indulge in when they require rest. And since they do dream in this state, it is no surprise that she might be considered somewhat vulnerable while doing so.

Conveniently enough, the sun is rising and she can feel it in her bones, even in the middling state between that dreaming trance and true awakening. What surprises her as she slowly elevates her consciousness is that gradual awareness that her body is warmed not just by the blanket, but by the bodies on either side of her, pressed against her own.]

HIGH SCHOOL AU WOOOO

[It's not really out of the ordinary for Kili to be in detention. Just because he's on the rugby team and he and his twin brother are popular and his uncle is a very well-known figure in the community doesn't mean he gets out of being disciplined.

He's a bit of a troublemaker, and his short attention span doesn't really help when he gets bored and ends up the class clown. Kili huffs and slumps out dramatically across his desk, looking up balefully at today's campus monitor that's taking over detention duty. He's just opened his mouth to whine when she swats him on the nose with a rolled up school newspaper.

No, Killian, you are not getting out early. Still. Now sit quietly, she tells him firmly, and he huffs.]

[Nothing would have made Tauriel happier than to do her part for the war, and she would have just as soon been out on the battlefields. But she was only a passable nurse, and so instead she'd opted to be a Land Girl. She didn't mind the hard work, and the manor she helped to cultivate began taking in soldiers who were recovering from battle wounds so there was always good company.]
