[After Kili's recovery Tauriel had stayed with them, and if there was any grumbling she never heard any of it. She may have saved the dwarf prince's life, but his leg needed more attention than just one healing session to draw the poison of the orcish arrow out of his body.

And while Tauriel is a hardy spirit, she is relieved when they decide to make camp one night where there is a small lake not too far away. She waits until the hour is late, and most of the dwarves are snoring to sneak away, shed her clothing, and put nothing between her own skin and the stars above but the water she bathes in.]

[Unluckily (or luckily, perhaps), Kili has the same idea as Tauriel. He knows the others would fuss or complain if he tried to go off on his own.

Kili doesn't usually have such a strong drive to wash, but since he's taken the wound in his thigh, he hasn't had a chance to properly clean himself, and there's something about the poison in the wound that makes him feel...filthy.

He slips out of his bedroll, noticing Tauriel's absence but chalking it up to her doing some...elf thing somewhere. Kili's tunic is abandoned beside his bedroll, and he's already undoing the laces of his breeches as he limps to lake's edge.

He stops dead when he notices that he isn't alone. Tauriel is there, naked and glistening in the moonlight. He shouldn't look, but Mahal, she's the most beautiful thing he's ever seen, and he's absolutely captivated.]

[She knows someone is there, for all that they are hidden briefly in shadow. She's not body-shy, but she's also not taking risks.]

I assure you I can put in arrow through your eye if you are an enemy and you try to run away. Come to where I can see you and know you to be friend or foe.

[At the moment the water's up to just below her shoulders.]

Um...

[Oops. Um. Kili's tunic has already been abandoned and his breeches are unlaced, only just barely keeping him modest. Awkwardly, he limps closer to the shore, his cheeks pink.]

It's me.

[daughteroftheforest]

[There's a blink. Oh.

Tauriel smiles, though it might be difficult to see in the darkness.]

Kili. My apologies. Please, join me in the water if that was your intention.

[kilimanjaro]

[Kili's jaw drops at the suggestion.]

Join...?

[His voice cracks, cheeks heating up all the more.]

Or not.

[Her tone is amused.] I'm uncertain of the bathing habits of dwarves. Legolas would most likely suggest that you do not bathe at all. Luckily I don't tend to heed him when he discusses such matters.

If modesty is an issue, you could always remain at a distance.

[Elves apparently have little in the way of modesty when it comes to such things.]

[Wow Kili. So eloquent.]

Sorry, I only meant...I thought you may be uncomfortable with it, that's all.

[Awkward cough.] But if not, I...would be more than happy to join.

[And with that, he has her very direct attention.]

I've never seen a naked dwarf before.

[And she'd find it very informative, Kili.]

[Kili can't help but laugh at that and kicks off his breeches before joining her in the water.]

I've never seen a naked elf before.

I suspect that will no longer be true for either of us 'ere long.

[She's at ease, though perhaps naively curious.]

Do dwarves swim?

[The water is a little chilly, and honestly Kili usually has this thing about lakes and large bodies of water, but Tauriel's here and he's not too deep. He'll be fine.

No doubt the first thing she'll notice is that Kili is rather hairy, patches of dark body hair covering a good portion of his torso.

He shrugs at her question, though there's a soft sigh as the wound in his thigh submerges.] Not much. I used to when I was younger, but... [He laughs a bit uncomfortably.] Nearly drowning changed that.

[daughteroftheforest]

[She stares. She can't help it. She swims closer, and seems to have no problem at all with striding from the shoulder deep water to about, well, ribcage deep. Thankfully (or perhaps not?) her hair is so long that it covers her breasts, but that's all there is to cover them. Nevermind that, though - she's far too fascinated with him.]

There's so much hair. I've never seen a body with so much.

[She reaches out like she wants to touch it, realizes he might have a personal bubble for lack of a better word, and withdraws her hand.] I am sorry. My people can be very relaxed about physical proximity.

[kilimanjaro]

[Kili laughs at her fascination and goes a little pinker a she comes closer, eyes immediately flickering to her breasts without thought. He can't really help it; he's young and he's never actually seen a dam naked before.

She reaches out to touch him and his attention goes back to her face where it ought to be.] I don't mind. We're both so different from each other...You can touch if you like.

[daughteroftheforest]

[Well, he invites her to, and so she does. Starting at his shoulder and along his bicep, then across his chest. She's visibly intrigued by the texture.]

To think. I've been accustomed to nothing but smooth skin all my life.

[kilimanjaro]

[It tickles a little, and a shiver runs down Kili's spine at the light touches. He watches her hand move and swallows, taking this opportunity to look at her while she's observing him.

Clearly she wouldn't mind, right? After all, she's...doing the same to him. All that smooth skin, glistening in the moonlight, so fair and exquisite Kili's honestly not sure if Tauriel isn't a star herself trapped in a physical form.]

If it helps, I've never seen such smooth skin as yours in my life.

[daughteroftheforest]

[It might be true, given the way her skin gleams under the moonlight. And obligingly, she holds out her arm, palm and inner arm turned upward.]

Our people are very different. I did not think I would find so much of the same spirit in another who was not of the elves.

[kilimanjaro]

[Kili reaches out without thinking, fingers tracing over the smooth skin of her arm. If the texture of hair is strange to Tauriel, the lack thereof is equally as strange to Kili.

He smiles at her words, looking up at her.] As a child, I was teased a lot for...looking and acting more like an elf. So perhaps we're not so different.

[daughteroftheforest]

[She blinks in confusion at that.] You look nothing like an elf. Your face...

[Her hand lifts to drag along his cheek.] No man of the elves has that.

[kilimanjaro]

[Kili smiles and laughs a little at that.] No, but I haven't the beard I ought to.

[daughteroftheforest]

[She bends a little, so they are nose to nose.]

I like what you have. It's very [She searches for a word.] rakish.

[kilimanjaro]

[The sound Kili makes can only be described as a giggle, brown eyes alight.]

Is that good?

[daughteroftheforest]

I think so.

[The tips of her fingers linger on his chin, flexing and relaxing so the bristles of his facial hair rub against them. She doesn't seem to realize she's doing it.]

[He leans into the touch, closing his eyes briefly before opening them again to gaze at her. His hand moves hesitantly to caress her cheek.]

You shine like a star, Tauriel. You're beautiful.
